Toxic America, Toxic Childhood on CNN
I am always sickened when I hear someone of global influence, ignore the fact that chemicals in our environment and products put us at health risks. I sat and watched tonight Michael Wells, America Chemistry Council, try to talk us, we the people, into believing that he is watching out for our safety. Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN's chief medical correspondent, asks Michael "if the air we were just breathing, the food we just ate and the water we just drank, had chemicals toxic to our bodies." Michael's response "NO, I feel confident that the toxic substance control act, has proven PRETTY effective in controlling health in the environment." Ok, GO ON.... "What we don't want, is to move to a system where the barrier to bring in new product to market are so high, it can't be met. WE want a system that allows our industry to maintain it's competitive edge, to bring forward new innovation." So why do we not follow the same chemical testing guidelines as say, Europe? Is it because the US cares more about making money, then the health of the the American people? Answer, yes. This is clearly stated by our Chemistry Council, Michael Wells. I predict that on Monday, Michael will be hit with a slew of emails from exasperated viewers. I watched these highly influential, supposably intelligent people, inform us that BPA, pesticides etc. in low levels, are not proven toxic to our bodies. First off, this statement is just ludicrous. They go on to state "how could this be the case when we've been using it for 30 years." Well, we are now seeing the effects in people in their 30-40's that we can attribute these toxins as the main contributors to the health problems that are on the rise such as, Breast cancer, prostate cancer, infertility, miscarriages and brain tissue damage. I am mainly speaking of the highly controversial, BPA. Regardless that at some point, if tested way back when, a chemical came back from testing as "safe," we know today, it is not "safe." BPA free bottles was the first item that I purchased for my company, as I wanted to offer my customers a safe way to feed their babies. My baby was not going to be drinking from bottles or sucking on pacifiers/teethers containing a known, proven toxic chemical in baby bottles. Green To Grow, the company I chose to purchase from, was one of the first companies to create a BPA free bottle. There are MANY companies that have jumped on the BPA free bandwagon, that still make bottles with BPA and their newer, BPA free bottle. Again, ludicrous!
Thank you and good night, April Cibulski

Erbaviva/Natural, Organic Baby/Kids Body Care

When we adopted our first daughter at birth, I took extreme caution on what I put in her body and on her body. Clearly aware of how everything is absorbed into our system through our skin, I went on a search for the best body care line I could find. I searched, health food store, web sites and any natural market I knew of. One day in a spa by my house, I found Erbaviva. I read the ingredients, opened up the bottle, took a whiff, tried it on my skin and I was sold. I FOUND IT!!!!! My daughter is now 2 1/2 and we are still using it. She has very sensitive skin. We use the shampoo and a body wash too, the cream each night in the winter, lotion in summer and the chest balm. She tends to get pretty stuffy at night so use the rub on her chest, back and feet. Feet you ask? You may know if the myth about putting vicks on your feet when your sick and stuffy to help you sleep? I would NEVER put vicks on my children. My daughter was having a hard time sleeping at 2 years old with molars coming in, stuffy nose etc. One night I put the balm on her feet and she has been sleeping well ever since. Don't know if it's really the balm but I do know when I forget to put it on, she wakes in the night.
We adopted our son last year at 3 years old from China. His skin was very dry, rashy and itchy. In 3 days after using the shampoo, cream and oil. His skin looked so beautiful. He loves it to this day.

New Item!!!

We just started carrying some new items from Artterro. They are Non Toxic, Eco Friendly art kits. Or just creative projects if you will. I wanted to have something different to offer for art/creativity and came across this company through tons of research. Let me tell you a bit about them. As you know, I only buy from vendors that are truely Eco Friendly from the birth of their companies. Not just the ones that jumped on the bandwagon and still continue to offer their not so earth friendly options.

Penny Update!!!!!

We have received an update on our daughter in Guangdong Provine, China. She's growing tremendously, her surgeries seem to be healthing well. We sent her a huge Christmas package and apparently, she loved everything. Her bday is coming up, she will be 2 years old. We will be sending her a cake through a 3rd party service in China. It's a big deal for all the kids. We are hoping to travel to adopt her in March. Well I'd hope for sooner, but the next approval phase is unpredictable.
